5 injured in wreck involving Sportran bus, truck and van

Five people were taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon, after a wreck involving a SporTran bus, a truck and a van.

According to the Shreveport Fire Department, it happened at 4:38 p.m. in the 900 block of Shreveport Barksdale Highway.

The two vehicles involved in the crash were reported to be traveling at a high rate of speed when the van hit the truck, knocking it into the Sportran Bus.

There were five people on the bus at the time of the wreck and three of them were transported to various hospitals.

One of the passengers was a female that was five months pregnant. The other two people taken to the hospital were males, one being the driver of the bus. The driver of the truck and a male and female of the van were also taken to local hospitals.

The van and truck were heavily damaged in the accident, and though drivable, the Sportran bus suffered significant damage as well. Shreveport Police Department was on scene conducting further investigation in an effort to determine the specific cause of the crash.
