Who will crack open a victory in the Egg Bowl Thanksgiving night?

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Mississippi State enters the Egg Bowl with 5 wins and 6 losses and if the Bulldogs are to extend its season into post-season play, coach Dan Mullens team must beat the Rebels.

If that's going to happen, the Bulldogs need 5th year senior quarterback Tyler Russell in the lineup.

He re injured his shoulder in the win over Arkansas on Saturday and is coming off a super game.

Mullen said,"I mean one of his best performances of his career on Saturday. Come in as a 5th year senior, not be a hundred-percent,have half a practice during the week and to step in into a tough environment against a good defense, one of the best pass defenses in the league and go 18 for 28 for 260 and two touchdowns."

Junior quarterback Bo Wallace leads the Rebels high octane offense and coach Hugh Freeze expects a stiff challenge from the Bulldogs defense.

"Same game plan, you've got to take care of the ball. They're great at going in and getting turnovers and when you turn the ball over, you're not nearly as good."

Anything can happen when arch-rivals meet and the home team has captured 8 of the last 9 Egg Bowl games.

Last season in Oxford Ole Miss dominated Mississippi State 41-24 behind the passing of Bo Wallace.  He passed for 294 yards and tossed five touchdowns.

That win gave Ole Miss 6 wins to become bowl eligible.

Ole Miss will try rebounding following a 24-10 loss to number 8 Missouri on Saturday, which knocked the Rebels out of the national ranking.  Ole Miss was number 24 in the Associated Press poll.

On Monday there was no line on the Egg Bowl game.  On Tuesday Ole Miss was tabbed a 3 point favorite over the Bulldogs.
