The Palmetto State's high profile rivalry showdown takes center stage Saturday, and it's the first time in this history of this game both teams are ranked in the top ten.
A win for South Carolina or Clemson can go a long way in proving they belong in a BCS bowl game.
As for Clemson senior quarterback Tajh Boyd, it potentially can do more, according to his head coach.
On his weekly call-in show, coach Dabo Swinney said that he believes a win over South Carolina should earn Boyd a trip to New York as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.
"For him to not be there is just ludicrous to me," said Swinney. "He's been incredibly consistent. Again, look at what he does in November. He leads the nation in quarterback efficiency. He's gotta finish. He's got one more game, and if you're going to get to New York, you've gotta win this game. It's that simple."
Boyd will have a chance to prove himself when the Tigers kick off against the Gamecocks at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
