(WMC-TV) - For the first time in two months, there has been a noticeable rise in gas prices. Of course, the change falls the same week as the Thanksgiving holiday.

Jill Stone knows the pain of paying too much at the pump.

"It's like $85 to fill up the Tahoe," stated Stone.

So much so, she recently bought a compact car in hopes of cutting her gas bill in half. But, following the deal in Iran this weekend, she and many others did not expect this.

Driver Michael Spain, on the other hand, said he is OK with where gas prices are right now. But, he has noticed they are inching back up.

"Yesterday, I filled up for $50. It's getting back up there. It was sitting at about $40-$45," said Spain.

Sunday, the Lundberg survey released new information about gas prices. In large part, the survey revealed the average price of gas in the U.S. rose for the first time in more than two months.

Lundberg said it is hard to know if the nuclear energy agreement announced Sunday between Iran and six world powers, which halts further efforts to reduce sales of Iranian oil, will cause a decrease at the pump or not. The publisher of the survey believes if the sanctions are permanent then gas prices could plunge.

Regular-grade gasoline prices inched up 3.4 cents to an average of $3.25 a gallon as of November 22.

The highest price is far from the Mid-South and in San Diego, California at $3.58 a gallon.

Currently, the highest price in Memphis is $3.39 a gallon.

"Supposedly the price of oil has [gone] down since the deal in Iraq. So, I was expecting it to really not go up. I'm kind of surprised," continued Stone.

However, the good news is the lowest price Action News 5 found is in Collierville, Tennessee at $2.90 a gallon.

But, national experts said prices at the pump are expected to continue to rise another 10 cents in the next few weeks.

In the meantime, drivers said they will have to make do.

"Make ends meet, you gotta drive. [But] may they go down," finished Stone.
