JACKSON, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A man is accused of beating a 53-year-old homeless man to death.

According to police, Clarence Edward Johnson, 59, is being held at the Madison County Jail.

Officials said the body of John Wesley Williams was found in a vacant home on second street in east Jackson. He was discovered Friday evening.

A report said Johnson called the police and reported he found his roommate dead.

Medical examiners determined he died from blunt force injuries, making him the city's 11th homicide victim this year.

The police report continued to describe the house as not having utilities and not being in a livable condition.

The investigation showed officials Johnson had struck Williams in the head multiple times with a crowbar.
