INDIANAPOLIS (RNN) – A career night for one Butler Bulldog helped his team defeat the Vanderbilt Commodores 85-77 on the road Tuesday night.

Bulldogs senior forward Khyle Marshall scored 26 points – 16 points in the final seven minutes of regulation – to push past the Commodores (2-1), giving Vanderbilt their first loss of the season.

Vanderbilt sophomore guard Eric McClellan also had a high-scoring game, getting 29 points (a career high), six rebounds and three assists in the loss.

Butler (3-0) had to fight off a 15-2 run late in the second half, but pulled away to win. They trailed by 14 points three different times in the game. The victory gave Butler a 5-0 series lead all-time over the Commodores.

Vanderbilt's next game will be at home against the Providence Friars Friday.
