CHADBOURN, NC (WECT) – A sergeant with the Chadbourn Police Department who was fired last month, will meet with town council members December 3 to talk about the possibility of getting his job back.

Mayor Fax Rector said the grievance will be in closed session during the town's next council meeting.

Sgt. Brian Campbell was fired after town officials say, he refused to take down videos he posted on the social media site Vine. Town officials said the videos were inappropriate.

According to town officials, Campbell and Officer Ricky Soles posted videos of them in uniform while on duty.

Town officials went on to say that beyond posting the videos while on duty, some of them could be seen as racially offensive.

According to Town Manager Stevie Cox, the videos were considered "behavior unbecoming of a police officer" under the standard operating procedures for the police department.

Cox said Campbell started arguing with Police Chief Steven Shaw when both men were told to take down the videos, and that's why he was fired. Soles, however, was not fired.

According to Soles, the videos were made at 4 a.m. during their break - after he and Campbell had completed all their work.

He also doesn't believe posting anything on Vine during work is any different then people posting things to Facebook.

According to Rector, Cox is looking into making policy changes for town employees regarding social media posts.
