A man broke into a Columbia area home early Thursday morning and forced a woman to a local motel, according to sheriff's deputies.

The incident started shortly before 1:00 when a man broke into the woman's home on Percival Road, according to Sergeant Curtis Wilson with the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

The victim told deputies she was taken from the home and forced to the Red Roof Inn on Two Notch Road. Deputies were called to the motel when the woman was banging on doors asking for help.

Deputies spotted the suspect's car leaving the motel and a short chase started. It ended a little over a mile away when the man wrecked the car on Chatsworth Road in the Windsor Lake neighborhood.

The K-9 team was called in and tracked down the suspect who was hiding on the roof of a shed on nearby York House Road.

Sheriff's deputies have arrested 25-year-old Angel Bush and he has been charged with unlawful entry and failure to stop for blue lights.

Investigators also plan to charge Bush with kidnapping.

Bush and the victim have known each other for about a month, deputies said.
