North Augusta Public Safety officers and Hazmat crews are responding to a fuel tanker spill on Highway 25 in North Augusta.
The truck overturned around 11 a.m. on Highway 25/Edgefield Road south of I-20. An eye witness said the tanker went around a curve too fast and spilled fuel on the road.
The driver was trapped in the truck but rescue crews were able to get him out. He was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center with minor injuries.
Crews have stopped the fuel from leaking from the truck, officials at the scene said. The truck was carrying 8,200 gallons of fuel. Only a portion of that spilled.
Officials said the spill hasn't caused any danger to the environment or to the public.
