COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

A 35-year-old Columbia father who died after running last weekend's Savannah Rock 'n' Roll Marathon will be remembered by friends and family on Wednesday.

Robert "Jake" Zeman will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park following a 3 p.m. service at Shandon United Methodist Church, which is located at 3407 Devine Street. A short visitation will follow interment.

The Dreher High and College of Charleston graduate had just crossed the finish line Saturday when he suddenly collapsed. He later died at a Savannah area hospital.

An online obituary indicates Zeman's death was caused by an "unsuspected heart condition." Family members said Monday Zeman had no known medical condition.

Zeman and his wife, Erin, have a 2-year-old son. He was employed by the University of South Carolina Facilities Planning and Programming Office.

His passion for running began when he ran the 2012 Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. He immediately began training for the Savannah marathon.

A fund has been set up to benefit Zeman's family. If you'd like to donate, you may do so by sending a check to: Merrill Lynch, c/o Jan Middlebrooks for Erin and Jack, 1224 Sumter Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
