WTOC Senior Active: Bob and Sandy Paredi

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Bob and Sandy Paredi have been a team for 55 years, just not on the tennis court.

"We discovered very early in our tennis playing days,'' said Sandy, "that if we were across the net from each other, it was a very precarious and dangerous situation.''

They both play and both have plenty more keeping them busy.

Sandy tends to the many plants they have in and around their Skidaway Island home and helps out-of-town competitors find housing for the several professional tennis events hosted by The Landings Club.

"I try to keep track of them,'' she said. "I book a lot of rooms and negotiate a good price, so that's my job.''

Bob is an avid fisherman and also finds projects around the house, but has also rekindled his passion for playing music.

"It was not on my list of things to do when I retired,'' he says. "It just sort of happened.''

And plenty has happened through music for Paredi since relocating to Savannah 16 years ago.

He is a member of the Savannah Winds Symphony at Armstrong and his dixieland jazz band, the Savannah Stompers,  played the wedding band in the Miley Cyrus movie "The Last Song", when it was filmed in Savannah.

"Music saved me from golf,'' he says. "I must say if it hadn't been for music, I would have been a very miserable golfer.''

One activity the Paredi's share is caring for their dog, Cocoa, but they both also share an interest in staying busy, involved and engaged.

"That's life, isn't it?" says Sandy. "I don't know what I'd do if there wasn't tennis. you can still run, you can still be active and you surprise people out there and that's always fun.''
