RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

A man is in jail accused of shooting another man during a robbery attempt in the victim's home over the weekend.

Authorities said 20-year-old Vashon Cunningham has been charged with attempted murder and armed robbery.

Deputies said Cunningham on Sunday night shot another man inside a home in the 300 block of Saluda River Road. Investigators said Cunningham went to the residence to rob the victim.

Cunningham then robbed the victim's friend, who was pretending to be dead, before fleeing the scene, deputies said.

When deputies arrived, the victim's wife would not allow them to enter the home.

Deputies noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside and saw marijuana in the foyer. A search warrant turned up marijuana in multiple places in the home, investigators said.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that the victim will be charged upon release from the hospital and anyone in the home may also be subject to arrest.
