Fires at Ashton Apartments were intentionally set, officials say

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Richland County Fire Marshals have determined a pair of fires Monday night at the Ashton Apartment complex were intentionally set.

According to a release, officials say the fires in buildings 201 and 205 were set by someone in the area.

The fires were first reported shortly before 9 p.m.

The investigation has been turned over to the Richland County Sheriff's Department in the mean time, and they are currently investigating leads.

Columbia Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins says a fire inside a unit and a fire in a hallway in a separate building caused approximately $150,000 in damages.

No one was injured.
