ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - Voters in South Carolina's House District 93 say they want Rep. Harry Ott's 35-year-old son to finish out his father's term in the Statehouse.

The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports Wednesday Democrat Russell Ott bested Republican Charles Stoudemire in Tuesday's special election.

The younger Ott told supporters in St. Matthews he's ready to go to work and serve the year remaining on his father's term.

Harry Ott has represented the district for 15 years. He is stepping down to become the state executive director of the federal Farm Service Agency.

Unofficial results from the S.C. Election Commission show that Ott received 1,898 votes to Stoudemire's 894.

District 93 is comprised of all of Calhoun County and portions of Orangeburg and Lexington counties.
