A 7-year-old Columbia girl collected over 150 children's coats for those in need this winter.

Harmonie Frederick said for the past two years she has asked her principal at Polo Road Elementary if she could collect the coats from the lost and found and donate them.

"Because some people can't find coats in the fall and they might get cold and sick," Harmonie said. "I feel very proud because some people don't really have coats and I want to make them feel really good about themselves."

Harmonie, her mom and her children's worship leader donated boxes full of warm coats to the Hannah House, a women's and children's shelter, Saturday.

Deacon Walter Brownlee, Harmonie's children's worship leader at Brookland Baptist Church said he's not surprised of her big heart and desire to help out.

"That's exactly the type of person she is," Brownlee said. "This was her effort through her school and she's just beaming with joy at being able to do this."
