RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

Richland County Sheriff's deputies have arrested five men who they say are connected to gangs on charges involving thefts from dozens of vehicles.

Sheriff Leon Lott says  four of the men were arrested earlier this month after they were identified on surveillance video.  A 16-year-old who was charged in connection to the crimes is charged with murder in  Columbia.

22-year-old Donald Wittich Jr., 23-year-old Anthony Canada, 25-year-old Corey Anderson, 26-year-old Dwayne Burgess and the teen are charged with several counts of malicious injury to property, larceny, and tampering with a vehicle.

Since June, Sheriff Lott says 71 Dodge or Chrysler vehicles have been damaged or broken into in the areas of Broad River Road, Harbison Boulevard and Dentsville.  Lott says the suspects targeted Dodge Challengers, Magnums and Avengers, and Chrysler 300s.

Investigators believe the weapon the 16-year-old is accused of using in the murder in Greenview may have been stolen from one of the vehicles.

Sheriff Lott says Burgess and Anderson are currently held in Georgia for crimes committed there.  They will be returned to Richland County to answer to the charges here.

Wittich and Canada were taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
