WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - New Hanover High School and Laney High School competed on the football field at Legion Stadium...wearing pink.

The teams and spectators wore pink to support breast cancer research causing a "Pink Out" effect in the Stadium.

"We want to show women fighting breast cancer they are not alone," said event organizer Michelle Huffman. "We have your back and we are here to support you."

Both high schools also competed off the field with a competition to see who could raise the most money for breast cancer research.

"It's just a friendly little competition that is less savage as opposed to football," said New Hanover High School student Pete Gaddy. "It will just help raise more and more money which is awesome."
