Well-known local radio and TV personality Cynthia Hardy was arrested for drug possession while entering the South Carolina State Fair on Wednesday, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

Just before noon on Wednesday, Hardy arrived at the fair to tape an independent talk show that airs on WACH FOX 57, Sheriff Leon Lott said. Deputies who were working the north entrance gate were alerted by metal detectors as Hardy walked through the gate.

During a search deputies found a cigar case containing a partially burned blunt and a rolled up blunt weighing approximately 2 grams containing marijuana, the sheriff said.

Lott added that Hardy was arrested, issued a citation for simple possession of marijuana and, at the request of the South Carolina State Fair, escorted off the property.

Her Twitter account indicates she was at the fair to discuss the future of social security in front of a live audience at 1 p.m.

Hardy hosts the weekly one-hour news talk show On Point! with Cynthia Hardy on 101.3 WWDM from 6-7 p.m.

According to her website, she is a member of the Columbia College Board of Trustees and was appointed to Columbia's Hospitality Tax Funding Committee for the Arts.
