GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The search is on for an exotic missing pet in Greenville that has been missing since Labor Day.

Lucky, a 10-year-old African Spur Tortoise, somehow got out of the backyard he's been living in for three years on Lake Fairfield Drive in Greenville.

His owners have been searching for him for the past couple of months, and now are offering a $300 reward for his return.

They said Lucky has a very special, sentimental value to their family. His original owner passed away three years ago, and he was handed down to a sister, Nikki Greene, who has taken care of him since. Greene said the special meaning of Lucky makes it vital that she find her pet.

He's been sighted around the Greenville area, but his owner still hasn't been able to track him down, she's hoping to get him home soon before winter hits.

"When the temps start to drop I'm really worried that he might not make it through the winter," said Greene. "I'm hoping someone out there sees this and he's able to make his way back home."

Lucky can actually live 150 up to 200 years, he's only 10 years old right now and she hopes to pass him down to her children and grandchildren.

Greene said if someone does come across the African Spur Tortoise, it is safe to pick him up and place him in a box until she can come and pick him up. If you have any information on Lucky's whereabouts, email us at foxcarolinanews@foxcarolina.com.
