SC State Museum asks public to name iconic shark

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The South Carolina State Museum is celebrating 25 years by letting you take a bite out of history.

The 43-foot long iconic great white shark replica that's been hanging from the ceiling for the last 25 years has never been named.

The museum asked the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind to select their top 10 shark names, and museum volunteers narrowed the names down to five.

They are: Carolina, Finn, Meg, Shellie and Stormy.

Now it's your turn to vote. Head to the SC State Museum's website.

Voting will last until October 21st. The shark's new name will be announced at the museum's birthday party on October 26th at the museum.

The shark arrived at the museum in February of 1988 and was built like an airplane's fuselage. Watch the video above to see the shark being delivered to the museum.
