SCE&G crews have contained a natural gas line rupture in downtown Columbia.

According to a Columbia Fire Department spokesperson, the rupture, which happened around 8:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Lady Street, happened when a flatbed truck making a delivery ran over a natural gas junction box that was under the sidewalk. The truck's weight caused the rupture.

Emergency crews closed Lady Street between Assembly Street and Main Street while they worked to shut down the gas.

The Columbia Fire Department told people in three buildings on the corner of Lady Street and Main Street to stay inside during the incident.

Nobody was injured.
