Police in Bath, Maine said on September 23rd, an 11-year-old 6th grade female student wrote a note on the bathroom wall, saying that there was a bomb in the school.

Police evacuated the school and cleared the scene, finding that there was no bomb or bomb making material inside.

After an investigation, police and school officials identified a sixth grader who they say was responsible.

Police tell us the student, who isn't being named, was charged this week with felony "terrorizing."

People in the community say they're shocked to hear about the charges.

Some say the student should have thought before she acted; others think those charges are too tough.

"I think they need to look at the day and age we live in. And, basically think things through a little bit further before they go and act."

"It's kind of overreacting. I could see if she did bring something in. I don't know what is really going on. But, they might be taking it a little bit out of proportion."

RSU 1 school superintendent chose not to go on camera or give a comment.
