Darlington Raceway accepting applications for 2014 "Lady in Black"

DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) – Hey ladies, interested in representing Darlington Raceway's Too Tough To Tame track as the official "Lady in Black"? They're currently accepting applications.

The "Lady in Black" serves as the face of Darlington Raceway, representing the track at community and media events, attending parties and the annual NASCAR Spring Cup Series race weekend.

A statement from the Darlington Raceway says the position is an integral part of Darlington Raceway's efforts to focus on the fans and represent the track in the local community, which has supported it since 1950.

Interested candidates have until October 31 to apply by visiting www.DarlingtonRaceway.com/LadyInBlack or by going on the track's Facebook page, Facebook.com/DarlingtonRaceway. Applicants must be at least 18-years-old to enter. After registering, the candidate will receive a confirmation email with details on how to complete the application process. The staff at Darlington Raceway will narrow the candidates down to five women, then have them participate in a "Meet the next Lady in Black" event at the Speed & Feed BBQ Cook-Off and Car Show on Friday, November 8 from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Fans will be able to vote on the five candidates online from November 11 to December 11, and a winner will be selected after voting concludes. A winner will be announced mid-January of 2014.
