Columbia Chamber CEO leaving in January

Posted: Updated:

The leader of the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce will step down in January, according to a spokesperson from the organization.

Ike McLeese, the president and CEO of the group, will leave the group at the beginning of next year.

McLeese ends a near 20-year run as the Chamber's leader.

Most recently, he and the Chamber aided Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin's efforts to fund the development of Bull Street.

In a release posted to the Chamber's blog, group officials say Holt Chetwood, chair of the Chamber Board of Directors, will lead the effort to look for a new president and CEO.

"Ike will continue his efforts with the Chamber in working with our local military installations to make this region the most Military Friendly Community in America," said the release.
