The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 77. The crash happened Tuesday night around 9 p.m. in the northbound lane.

According to the Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2002 Ford truck was killed after the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch and then overturned. Troopers say the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the victim in this crash as 55-year-old Albert G. Ham from Jamestown. Ham died at the scene, according to Watts, but a definitive cause of death was not clear. Watts says he's waiting on further testing to discover if Ham died due to the crash or because of a medical event prior to the incident.

The crash remains under investigation.
