Coroner identifies woman who died in early morning house fire

WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Authorities have released the identity of a woman who died in a house fire early Tuesday morning in West Columbia.

Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harman said 65-year-old Nancye Harrell died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning and thermal injury due to the fire.

Investigators are still trying to determine what started the fire.

Firefighters with the Lexington County Fire Service were called to the home on Newfield Drive in the Laurel Meadows subdivision around 5:52 a.m.

Smoke and flames were visible when they arrived.

The incident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner's Office, Lexington County Fire Service, and Lexington County Sheriff's Department.
