North Myrtle Beach: Construction begins on ocean outfall project

Posted: Updated:

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Beginning Monday, the horseshoe on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach will be closed as construction crews begin working on an ocean outfall project.

The horseshoe will be used as a staging area for the equipment that will be used to put a pipe out miles into the ocean. It, along with other parts of Ocean Blvd, will be closed through May.

This project alone will cost $9.5 million, compared to $15 million for the first four pipes in North Myrtle Beach. This is because of the size of the pipe being placed, and also due to new state rules.
