2 Sylvania Southview students arrested, accused of raping student

SYLVANIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Two Sylvania Southview students have been arrested, accused of raping another high school student at a local park.

According to a Sylvania Police report, the two males, one 17 and the other 14, have been charged with the rape. The report alleges it happened at 6930 West Sylvania Avenue, the address of Olander Park.

The two suspects, who are football players, were arrested at Southview High School Tuesday.

According to the report, a pair of underwear, a hooded sweatshirt, a pair of jeans and a cell phone were collected as evidence.

A Lucas County Juvenile Court official says both suspects are being held in the Juvenile Detention Center. A trial date for the case has been set for Oct. 1.

Both Sylvania Police and Sylvania Schools declined to comment on the arrests.

Olander Park's interim director says they are cooperating with police and continuing to step up security measures at their properties.
