City of Orangeburg elects first African-American mayor

ORANGEBURG, SC (WIS) -

The City of Orangeburg elected their first African-American Mayor Tuesday night.

Michael Butler was elected to a four-year term with 844 votes defeating incumbent Mayor Paul Miller who only received 731 votes.

There were also 13 write-in votes, Orangeburg County election officials said.

Election results will be certified Thursday at City Hall in Orangeburg.
