DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

A man wanted for car break-ins struck three Dorchester County sheriff’s cruisers and a mobile home with his SUV while fleeing authorities at the Sweats Mobile Home Park in Knightsville on Wednesday, officials say.

According to a Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office incident report, deputies were assisting US Marshals and SLED agenets with serving a felony warrant to 34-year-old Shawndell Quintel McClenton a little after 3 p.m. when they attempted to make contact with the suspect.

The report states officers tracked McClenton, spotted driving a grey Dodge Durango, to a mobile home at lot 7 of 1630 Central Avenue. When they tried to pull the driver over, authorities said McClenton refused to stop and turned onto Cone Lane before traveling back towards Central Avenue.

Another official said the suspect tried to get back inside a mobile home by getting out of the SUV while it was moving. Deputies said the vehicle struck three patrol units and a mobile home near the entrance of the park as McClenton tried to flee.

McClenton didn’t get far, as K-9 Rony was deployed and the suspect was taken into custody. Charleston County sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene and took McClenton into custody.

A deputy who was inside one of the cruisers at the time of the crash said he suffered pain from the left side of his ribs. He was taken to Summerville Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators said they later learned two juveniles were inside the car with McClenton at the time of the pursuit. One of the juveniles possibly suffered a broken arm, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

McClenton complained of a broken foot.

The resident whose home was damaged by the Durango told authorities she wished to file charges.

Authorities estimated the damage to all three vehicles at approximately $5,500.

McClenton is being held in the Charleston County Detention Center where he faces a number of charges in Charleston and North Charleston. He will later be served with warrants for failure to stop for blue light, four counts of damage to real property, and child endangerment.
