The Gamecocks defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels 27 - 10 following an hour-plus long weather delay.
The fireworks started early for South Carolina as they began their first drive of the game with two runs and a 65-yard bomb from Shaw to sophomore receiver Shaq Roland to give the Gamecocks the lead with just over 13 minutes left in the first quarter.
The Gamecocks struck again quickly after backup quarterback Dylan Thompson appeared and delivered a 29-yard strike to Kane Whitehurst.
UNC and quarterback Bryn Renner had a difficult time creating sustained drives, going three and out twice before finally putting points on the board early in the second quarter.
The wind in the Gamecocks sails died down a bit following UNC's scoring drive as the offense sputtered, but an Elliot Fry field goal gave them an extra three point insurance policy shortly before the end of the first half.
