GRAY COURT, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The body that was found in Laurens County has been identified as Myranda Southern, according to the Laurens County Coroner Nick Nichols.

Nichols said Southern had been shot in the back of the neck once, ruling her death a homicide.

Southern's body was found in a pasture near a Gray Court home on Aug. 23, according to Nichols.

Southern went missing after leaving her work in Simpsonville on Aug. 19. Deputies said Southern was supposed to be heading to Zellwood, FL, to visit family and never got there.

It took investigators until Aug. 29 to positively identify Southern and make an arrest in connection with her death. Laurens County Ricky Chastain said Darrell Raines, 33, will be charged with murder. He is awaiting a bond hearing in Laurens County.

Southern's aunt, Pamela Smith, gave a statement to FOX Carolina on Thursday that said:

"Myranda's love for her children, her family and her friends was a fierce and heartfelt love. She was never too busy, too distracted or too self-involved to stop what she was doing and be there for her loved ones. I think this is obvious from the outpouring of support and concern since we realized that she was missing. We have the utmost faith that the Greenville authorities will not rest until my niece's killer is brought to justice."
