MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A Myrtle Beach timeshare salesman was arrested Tuesday on charges of tax evasion, according to the South Carolina Department of Revenue.

Investigators arrested 32-year-old Evrett James with three counts of income tax evasion for tax years 2006 to 2008, according to a news release from the SC Department of Revenue. Evrett owed $21,221 in taxes on $397,116 in gross income, and failed to file income tax returns for this period, claiming exempt status.

If convicted, James could face up to 15 years in prison and/or up to $30,000 in fines, SCDOR officials stated. James is awaiting a bond hearing at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
