NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) -

Inspirational music filled the North Charleston Coliseum tonight as did thousands, who waited in anticipation to hear preacher Joel Osteen deliver his message.

"Just to be hopeful."

"It's the encouragement. It's like you put the past behind you and let's move forward."

"How to cope with life."

Many say his sermons on television and the radio are inspiring and seeing him live is a dream come true.

"I enjoy Joel's messages," says West Ashley resident Tanesha Brown. "I already have his podcast on my phone that I look at. So, I was really looking forward to the fact that he's coming tonight."

"We saw him in Jacksonville," says Charleston resident Jim Wheaton. "He's the same. I mean he's authentic. He speaks from the heart."

Terrence Davis and Kimberly Pittman drove down from Detroit. They say Osteen has a hand in their day-to-day lives. They believe his message is for the masses, Christian or not.

"Sometimes you wake up and you might hear what you need to hear," says Pittman. "He's everything. I love everything about him."

"Just about every time that I've listened to him, he has something very powerful to say, and I really take it and internalize his message," says Davis

Steve McMillan came down from Columbia with his parents and two young daughters.

"It's more than a tradition, but it's very important to me as a parent to make sure that my children have a personal relationship with Jesus."
