GREENVILLE, SC (WYFF) - An Upstate man driving in a separate vehicle witnessed a head-on wreck that killed his wife and injured their children.

The mother of three was killed when her car was hit head-on by a truck going the wrong direction down Interstate 385, according to Greenville police.

Pfc. Jonathan Bragg said a truck was headed the wrong way in the northbound lanes of the interstate near Pleasantburg Drive when it hit the woman's car head-on.

This happened just after 3 a.m. Monday.

The woman had her children, ages 3, 8, and 9, in the car, and they were all taken to the hospital with serious injuries, Bragg said.

Deputy Coroner Barry Wright identified the woman as 27-year-old Shauntia Jackson.

Wright said the father of the children was in a van in front of the mother 's car.

Wright said the father was talking on the cellphone with his wife when the wreck happened, but he had no time to warn her.

Wright said the family was coming back from a family outing in Charlotte.

The driver of the truck was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Bragg said the truck driver will be charged once he is released.

Wright told WYFF News 4 that he suspects alcohol played a part in this wreck.
