YADKINVILLE, NC (WBTV) -

A Yadkin County man has been arrested after deputies say he held a family member against their will with a machete.

According to the Yadkin County Sheriff's Office, a victim came to deputies on Friday and said they had been held against their will for nearly three hours by a family member.

That man, 48-year-old Patrick Harding Cleary, reportedly used a machete to threaten physical harm to the victim and also used the machete to damage the victim's phone - keeping them from calling 911.

According to investigators, the victim was able to get out of the home after Cleary fell asleep.

When investigators were at the scene, they found marijuana was also found growing on Cleary's property.

He was charged with Second Degree Kidnapping, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Injury to Personal Property, Communicating Threats, Interference with Emergency Communication, and Manufacture Marijuana.

Cleary is currently being held at the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.
