2 vehicle collision in Myrtle Beach kills taxi driver

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – An early Saturday morning two-vehicle accident left one person dead according to Horry county Coroner Tamara Willard.

A taxi driver, 48-year-old Michael Dickson from Little River, collided with an SUV driver around 3:21 a.m. on 38th Ave North and 17 Bypass.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department report confirmed Jomo Foley, 42-years-old, from Waterbury CT, was the driver of a Lincoln Navigator, the other vehicle involved in the accident. Foley fled the scene on foot, but investigators located him at 28th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard.

Foley is charged with Felony DUI leaving scene of accident causing death and traffic hit and run resulting in death. He was in the hospital receiving treatment for injuries early Saturday, but Sgt. Jim Allen confirmed he is no longer hospitalized. 

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
