On average, we get just over 47 inches of rain each year in the Upstate. We have gotten over 49 inches as of this afternoon! Plus, more rain is on the way for the rest of the week! Just an unbelievably wet summer around here!
We are in an unsettled pattern that will bring a chance for late night/early AM heavy rain like we saw this morning for tomorrow.
These storms are brought in with the northwest flow, which is the orientation of the jet stream. Complexes of storms develop to our north and will ride south, tap into gulf moisture, and really soak the Carolinas and GA.
We'll also get heat-induced storms each afternoon. There's so much moisture for these storms to work with, that they can become flood producers very fast!
I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel quite yet... every day in the next seven days looks somewhat stormy.
We MIGHT get a break on Thursday, but I still think a few areas will get rain.
