LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

An Orangeburg 19-year-old was arrested in connection with a string of robberies at convenience stores in West Columbia and Lexington.

Lexington County Sheriff James Metts said Dontrell Dwayne Sharperson turned himself in to Richland County Sheriff's deputies Friday.

Sharperson was charged with four counts each of armed robbery and criminal conspiracy, three counts of possessing a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and two counts of kidnapping. He's held on $950,000 bond at the Lexington County Detention Center.

According to arrest warrants, Sharperson was a member of a gang that robbed four convenience stores in May, June and July on Augusta Road and Sunset Boulevard.

Investigators previously arrested 18-year-old Rayjon Smith, 24-year-old Travis Bromwell and a 16-year-old, all from Columbia, in connection with the robberies.

Sheriff James Metts said all four are members of the Bloods street gang.

Detectives also got arrest warrants for 18-year-old Antwon Jamal Brown of Columbia in connection to three of the robberies. He is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on unrelated charges.
