PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Perrysburg police are searching for the person responsible for several car break-ins over the weekend.

According to the Perrysburg Police Department, the break-ins happened on East Sixth Street. Two GPS systems were stolen from one car, along with $2 in change. Another vehicle had $120 in valuables stolen, including debit cards.

Police say they have seen a spike in this type of crime over the past few weeks.

"Things happen more and more often, and you should be more aware. That's just common sense," said resident Jim Mills.

Mills has lived in Perrysburg for five years and says the area is pretty quiet. He feels these crimes are shocking, but does his best to keep his property safe.

"I keep my doors locked when I'm not here and I put my car in the garage in the evening," he said.

Police say neighborhoods that have seen a big spike in car break-ins will have bicycle patrols monitoring their area. They say most of the crimes happen at night and believe more patrols will help combat the problem.

At this point, police do not have any suspects, and want to emphasize the importance of keeping doors locked. Anyone with more information on these break-ins is urged to call police.
