Aviation Authority meeting to discuss fallout after director resigns

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Charleston County Aviation Authority board members will meet Tuesday to discuss fallout from the recent resignation by Charleston International Airport Director Sue Stevens.

Stevens announced her intentions to resign, effective Sept. 30, last week.

According to a letter from the authority's board chariman, Andy Savage, Stevens says she was mistreated and verbally abused by "a minority membership" of the board.

Savage said he was shocked at Stevens' decision.

During a special board meeting behind closed doors at 1 p.m., Savage said the board will "consider the implications of this separation."

"The director's separation notice creates an unexpected challenge, but as I have often expressed, I am confident that the members of this board will respond in a manner that is consistent with the best interest of the public," Savage stated.
