COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

For some, it takes years to set goals and accomplish them. For 13-year-old Josiah Washington, it only took him 10 years to meet a major goal he set when he was much, much younger.

His goal? A chance to answer clues to esoteric categories like Potpourri and 18th Century Roman Weaponry.

That's right: he wanted to be on Jeopardy! And just recently, Washington got the chance of a lifetime.

"I started watching Jeopardy! when I was 3 years old, and when I was 4, I decided I wanted to be on the show," said Washington.

Josiah's father, Phillip, says the show was always on in their house.

"At some point he started chiming in and answering questions, and we were like whoa," said Phillip.

The toughest categories for average folks like math, geography, and current events were no challenge to him. However, there was one topic that took plenty of work.

"A lot of the pop culture questions they have I'm not too strong with," said Washington. "They ask you, 'Who won American Idol, the fourth season?' and I'm like, 'I don't watch American Idol, so I wouldn't know that.'"

Washington spends hours at Richland Library every week where he also volunteers in their children and teen centers. He earned a spot on the game show after testing online and auditioning in Cincinnati.

Washington says now that he's conquered Jeopardy!, it's time to focus on bigger goals.

"I want to go to MIT and study mechanical engineering, and go to Harvard Business School and get my MBA and become the CEO of my own roller coaster company," said Washington.

Who knows? If it all works out for him in the roller coaster world, he might just end up on Jeopardy again -- this time as one of the clues.
