NOGALES, AZ (CBS5) -

Three Arizonans were arrested over the weekend during separate attempts to smuggle drugs into the U.S.

On Sunday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Nogales selected a 34-year-old Fort Mohave woman for a further search of her SUV. A K-9 alerted to the gas tank containing nine packages of methamphetamine worth $171,182.

Earlier in the day, officers referred Joaquin Vicente Lopez, 61, of Nogales, for further inspection of his vehicle. A service K-9 alerted to the front bumper area, where officers then removed 14 packages of meth worth $225,060.

On Friday, officers referred Judy Adilene Aguirre, 22, of Chandler, for an additional inspection of her SUV when she attempted to cross the border. A CBP narcotics detection K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs inside the rear cargo compartment. Officers said they removed 14 packages of crystal meth worth $227,788.

The drugs and vehicles were processed for seizure. The three subjects were referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
