Two young pups were stolen right out from under the noses of employees at Pets, Inc. just days apart, according to a release from the shelter. One of them was returned Monday night.

Shelter officials say a 6-week-old female was snatched around 5 p.m. on July 9 by a group of three women.

The shelter says one of the women grabbed the dog, placed it in her apron, and walked out the door with the other two women.

A Pets, Inc. representative says the 6-week-old was returned unharmed Monday night. According to Jane Brundage, the three suspects took the puppy back and claimed they had paid for it. Brundage says surveillance video suggests otherwise.

The other puppy, the appropriately named 'Justice', a 10-week-old St. Bernard mix, was stolen around 5 p.m. on July 8.

Surveillance footage provided by the shelter shows a group of three people walking up to the puppy, putting a leash on him, and walking straight out the door.

"It appears that they snatched the first puppy they came to -- the one nearest the exit door," says a narrator in the surveillance footage posted to YouTube.

Pets, Inc. says both pets were microchipped with information that connects them back to the shelter. Both were reported stolen.

It is not known if these two cases are related.
