Monroe High's Lockette excited for opportunity with 49ers

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricardo Lockette took some time this weekend to help fellow Monroe High graduate Deion Branch run his skills and drills camp at Albany State.

Lockette, who went undrafted out of Fort Valley State, is now aiming to be a top playmaker with the 49ers. Branch, a Super Bowl MVP, believes that Lockette has been working hard enough to make an impact.

"I know this young man has worked hard in the off-season," Branch said. "Once training camp starts, it time for him to kick in and see what he can do."

With Michael Crabtree suffering from a torn Achilles, Lockette knows that he has a chance to make a name for himself.

"Without a shadow of a doubt, this is the opportunity of opportunities," Lockette said. "This is the opportunity to be the No. 1 receiver on a NFL team. One of the best teams in the NFL, if not the best."
