NFL vet Branch shocked by charges against former teammate Hernandez

Deion Branch held his 8th annual Skills and Drill Football Camp Saturday morning at Albany State University.

The former Monroe High graduate took spoke to kids about his experience on the field and the life lessons he learned from it. The camp was open for kids ranging in age from 7-18.

Branch is still looking for a new jersey to don next season as he waits for a contract offer. His former teammate, Aaron Hernandez was released this week by the Patriots amid charges stemming from the death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd.

"I would have never thought that he would even have his name tied up in that type of stuff," Branch said.

Branch and Hernandez played three seasons together when both were picked up in 2010.

"I hope that he has nothing to do with it," Branch continued. "But if he did, he will have to pay the price."
