Suspect identified in Earlewood man's dragging death

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The Columbia Police Department now has a suspect in connection with the dragging death of a man in the Earlewood neighborhood.

Police say they are seeking 29-year-old Dany Alexander Zuniga-Torres and are considering him to be a flight risk.

Officials plan to charge Zuniga-Torres with hit and run resulting in death once he is captured.

Zuniga-Torres stands accused of hitting 52-year-old Calvin Smith with a van on Union Street late Sunday night. Smith was dragged underneath the van for several hundred yards.

Smith was later pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
