CAMDEN, SC (WIS) -

A Camden man accused of brutally raping a 12-year-old girl will not be getting out of jail. A judge denied bond for 50-year-old Michael Williams. Camden investigators say Williams targeted the girl while she was at a friend's house.

Camden detectives say the assault happened in a bathroom at a home just down the street from the victim.

"I'm hurt," said the victim's mother, who will not be identified to protect the child's identity. "I'm hurt. We're all hurt."

The mother says her daughter was playing with a bunch of neighborhood kids less than a block away from home on Saturday night.

"All the children were out there playing. Ain't nobody know the man was in the house," said the mother.

The young girl went inside to use the bathroom, and that's when Camden detectives say Williams picked his target.

"Once he had her in the bathroom, he proceeded to sexually assault her," said Detective Chris Anderson.

At a bond hearing on Wednesday, Williams hid from our camera while detectives told the judge that Williams pulled down the victim's shirt and pants and raped her.

"She was taken to the hospital where she was examined and according to that report, there are injuries that are consistent with a sexual assault," said Anderson.

Officers say Williams was living at the house with his sister. The adults who were watching the kids play had no idea he was inside.

But the mother says even if she had known, she wouldn't have necessarily been alarmed because she knows Williams.

"I know him because we all practically grew up together and I figured he wouldn't do nothing like that," said the mother.

After the attack, the mother says her daughter was able to escape and tell an adult.

The mother says she has nothing to say to Williams.

"I don't even want to see him because if I see him, ain't no telling what I'll do," said the mother.

She says she won't let her children go anywhere without her anymore, not even down the street.

Williams has been charged with kidnapping and 1st degree criminal sexual conduct. The victim's mother says she hopes he stays in jail so he cannot hurt another child.
