LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) -

Liquid leaking from a barrel on a delivery truck behind a Midlands Walmart prompted emergency crews to evacuate the store Tuesday afternoon.

Lexington County Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were dispatched to the store after the discovery of the leak near the rear of the building.

After clearing a portion of the store, emergency crews later evacuated the whole building while they worked to identify what was leaking.

Police officers said the leak was contained and deemed safe sometime after 4:30 p.m. A private contractor was being brought in to clean the chemical up.

Officials said the store was to remain closed overnight during clean up.

Managers from the store told the Lexington Police Department they planned to reopen at 7 a.m. Wednesday.
