CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

The Coast Guard rescued three boaters off the coast of Charleston Saturday morning after their boat began to take on water due to a hole in the back of the vessel, officials say.

A Coast Guard boatcrew from Charleston responded to a call for help at 7:10 a.m. 5-miles off the coast. The Coast Guard Cutter Hawk, an 87-foot patrol boat, also assisted with the rescue.

According to a release, the three boaters were rescued after their 21-foot center console boat sprung a leak and began to flood.

The rescued boaters were transferred to a patrol boat while crews worked to get the flooding under control. The boaters and their boat were then taken to a boat landing in Charleston, officials say.

No injuries were reported.
